Closing the Theory-Praxis Gap
- Parent- and practitioner-centered (not purely academic).
- Open to integrating science with consciousness, holistic practices, and Indigenous wisdom.
- Committed to media, education, and community-building (via Kindred Magazine/Media).
- The Evolved Nest and Nested World Initiatives are formally educational projects of Kindred World. This foundation provides the initiatives with nonprofit infrastructure, donor support, longevity, and credibility.
- Darcia Narvaez, elected president of Kindred World in 2020, and Lisa Reagan, Kindred World’s founder and co-creator of the Evolved Nest and Nested World Initiatives provide integrated leadership that ensures deep alignment between the science and Kindred World’s nonprofit values, and what is now being recognized as Kinship Praxis.
- Media, Messaging, and Accessibility: Kindred Magazine has disseminated Narvaez’s research through articles, interviews, podcasts, and glossaries — translating dense science into accessible language for parents, educators, and cultural creatives.
- Nesting Ambassador Program: NAP turns the science into train-the-trainer / decentralized leadership — creating coalitions of stakeholders (parents, wellness professionals, educators, etc.) who adapt and apply EN science and its Kinship Worldview locally. NAP’s strategy and mission is to close the Theory-Praxis Gap.
- Trauma-Informed & Kinship Integration: Kindred World’s long history and emphasis on conscious parenting and holistic wellness provided the insights and experience needed for Lisa Reagan to develop the Learning Experience of the Evolved Nest: re-sequencing the nine components for safety (front-loading worldview literacy, nature connection, restorative practices, and play), trauma-informed language, and the Nested Kinship umbrella that weaves in Indigenous Kinship Worldview.
- Community & Coalitions: Kindred World’s history of consciousness-raising fostered networks, from the beginning, that support participatory tools, gathering groups, websites, conferences, and global networking necessary to support the emergent conscious parenting movement. These organizational insights and experiences have also been integrated into the Nesting Ambassador Program through its Kinship Praxis Gatherings.
- Holistic Worldview: Kindred’s roots in conscious parenting made it receptive to integrating neurobiology with relational, ecological, ceremonial, and heart-led approaches — rather than reducing it to mechanistic parenting advice.
- Sustainability & Scalability: Nonprofit status supports grant/donation funding, longevity, and global dissemination without diluting the mission.
- Bridge-Building: Kindred World connects academic science with grassroots movements, nonprofit activists and partners, Indigenous wisdom keepers, practitioners, professionals, and policymakers — enabling the “Science of the People” positioning developed to support the reclaiming of our Evolved Nest and its Kinship Worldview: Nested Kinship.

Darcia Narvaez, PhD, President
Ranked in the top two percent of scientists worldwide in 2020 and recipient of multiple awards for her work developing the science of the Evolved Nest, Narvaez’s transdisciplinary, holistic lens into how we create a Wisdom-based, Wellness-informed World is bringing coherence and empowerment to a new story of the human family.

Lisa Reagan, Kindred World's Founder and Executive Director
For over 20 years, Lisa Reagan, through Kindred World, has served as a cultural steward, synthesizer, translator, storyteller, and amplifier of human consciousness research, especially where it intersects with wellness, wholeness, and worldview transformation. She has been instrumental in integrating consciousness science into lived experience and advancing discussions around the importance of nurturing, empathetic parenting practices, and the broader implications these practices have for society.
Kindred World operates as a platform for sharing knowledge, research, theory, and the emergent praxis that aligns with these values, offering a space for individuals to connect and learn from each other on their journey toward creating healthier family dynamics and communities. Kindred World’s nonprofit vision, stewarded by Lisa Reagan, reveals consciousness is not only an individual process, but a collective, cultural, and relational one— rooted in early life, family, ecological awareness, and Indigenous knowledge.

In Salon #88 of the Maternal Gift Economy Movement, Darcia Narvaez and Lisa Reagan presented “Nested World for Maternal Gift Economy,” arguing that humanity’s evolutionary blueprint for wellness is the “Evolved Nest”—nine interconnected early-childhood experiences that shaped 99% of our species’ history. These include soothing birth, extended breastfeeding, constant affectionate touch, responsive caregiving, alloparenting by community, self-directed free play, and deep nature immersion. Drawing on neuroscience, anthropology, and Indigenous wisdom, Narvaez showed how this nest wires the brain for empathy, resilience, and moral intuition, while its modern absence drives rising anxiety, aggression, and ecological disconnection.
Reagan framed the maternal gift economy—nurturing freely given rather than exchanged—as the original human economy that industrial capitalism has dismantled. The speakers introduced NestedWorld.org and the new Nesting Ambassador Program to help individuals, families, schools, and policymakers re-integrate evolved-nest practices and heal adults through “re-nesting.” Blending rigorous science with ancestral storytelling and live Q&A, the session delivered a hopeful, actionable vision: restoring the maternal gift and the evolved nest is not nostalgic but an evolutionary imperative for personal wellbeing and planetary survival
