Kindred World’s initiatives and projects, created over two decades, were designed to meet specific needs of Cultural Creatives called to reimagine humanity and restore our capacities for Welcoming a Wisdom-based, Wellness-informed World. Who are we?
Kindred World began as a grassroots, consciousness-raising organization of parents and professionals in 1996, twenty-five years into America’s fifty year decline to the bottom of all developed nations’ indices for family, maternal, infant, and children’s health. Today, Kindred World’s nonprofit mission and vision, of a Wisdom-based, Wellness-informed Society, are more relevant and important than ever.
During the current climate crisis, pandemic, and political upheaval, Kindred World’s quarter century of investigating and sharing a New Story of Our Human Family is a blazed path to wholeness and wellness ready for others to follow. With a consistent dedication to serve, Kindred World’s leaders, contributors, volunteers, and community participants have explored the interconnectedness of the posts, podcasts, and interview “categories” you will find on the Kindred Media website.
Over the past 25 years, Kindred World and its nonprofit initiatives have explored this New Story from the ground up, in grassroots’ communities, and from the top down with frontier science researchers, Seekers, Trancebreakers, and New Cycle Makers. This New Story comes with its own language: phrases like Cultural Creatives, Bio-Cultural Conflict, Grounded Expansion, Harmonic Family Resonance, Phronesis, the Evolved Nest, Original Brilliance and the Ecology of the Child, can be found in our New Story Glossary. If we’re going to tell a New Story, we will need new language.
What is needed at this time is a safe gathering place, a sanctuary, created with great compassion to inspire and welcome our imaginations to engage in open dialogue, to create connected community, and to identify resources that support an adventurous exploration of thriving.

Darcia Narvaez, PhD, President
Ranked in the top two percent of scientists worldwide in 2020 and recipient of multiple awards for her work developing the science of the Evolved Nest, Narvaez’s transdisciplinary, holistic lens into how we create a Wisdom-based, Wellness-informed World is bringing coherence and empowerment to a new story of the human family.

Lisa Reagan, Kindred World's Founder and Executive Director
For over 20 years, Lisa Reagan, through Kindred World, has served as a cultural steward, synthesizer, translator, storyteller, and amplifier of human consciousness research, especially where it intersects with wellness, wholeness, and worldview transformation. She has been instrumental in integrating consciousness science into lived experience and advancing discussions around the importance of nurturing, empathetic parenting practices, and the broader implications these practices have for society.
Kindred World operates as a platform for sharing knowledge, research, theory, and the emergent praxis that aligns with these values, offering a space for individuals to connect and learn from each other on their journey toward creating healthier family dynamics and communities. Kindred World’s nonprofit vision, stewarded by Lisa Reagan, reveals consciousness is not only an individual process, but a collective, cultural, and relational one— rooted in early life, family, ecological awareness, and Indigenous knowledge.

In Salon #88 of the Maternal Gift Economy Movement, Darcia Narvaez and Lisa Reagan presented “Nested World for Maternal Gift Economy,” arguing that humanity’s evolutionary blueprint for wellness is the “Evolved Nest”—nine interconnected early-childhood experiences that shaped 99% of our species’ history. These include soothing birth, extended breastfeeding, constant affectionate touch, responsive caregiving, alloparenting by community, self-directed free play, and deep nature immersion. Drawing on neuroscience, anthropology, and Indigenous wisdom, Narvaez showed how this nest wires the brain for empathy, resilience, and moral intuition, while its modern absence drives rising anxiety, aggression, and ecological disconnection.
Reagan framed the maternal gift economy—nurturing freely given rather than exchanged—as the original human economy that industrial capitalism has dismantled. The speakers introduced NestedWorld.org and the new Nesting Ambassador Program to help individuals, families, schools, and policymakers re-integrate evolved-nest practices and heal adults through “re-nesting.” Blending rigorous science with ancestral storytelling and live Q&A, the session delivered a hopeful, actionable vision: restoring the maternal gift and the evolved nest is not nostalgic but an evolutionary imperative for personal wellbeing and planetary survival
