Greetings, I am Malin (she her pronouns).
Malin sounds like the plant mullein.
I am a mother, a forest school teacher, early childhood educator, community organizer, and grief facilitator, with a passion for healing traumatized systems.
I am grateful to live on the beautiful ancestral homelands of the Sinixt people, in Nelson BC, Canada. In 2017, I established a nature school called The Forest Path, in the Coyote Mentoring tradition. The Forest Path has programs for families, preschoolers, homeschoolers and summer camps for kids from 5-13 years old. I also work at another outdoor school for homeschoolers, called Earth Connections. My mentors are Tim Corcoran and Jeannine Tidwell of Twin Eagles Wilderness School.
I am blessed with two children I birthed (homebirth and hospital birth) and two bonus children (stepchildren), most of them are teenagers now.
As a child, I went to a parent cooperative daycare as well as the Swedish forest school ‘Skogs Mulle’. My grandpa had a farm and my mother was part of La Leche League (Amningshjalpen).
Hoping to help change the world, I got a Masters degree in Political Science. I worked many years with interdisciplinary, student-led sustainability education at the Centre for Environment and Development Studies (CEMUS) at Uppsala University, Sweden. I was also an environmental and peace activist and travelled in Europe, Africa and India.
Feeling stressed and worried about the state of the world, I turned to yoga and my own ecosystem and became a Satyananda yoga teacher and eventually started a yoga school for kids. I am now also a certified early childhood educator working to bring more evolved nest and deep nature connection into childcare centres.
My life’s question is How to facilitate group and cultural change. I lead earth grief rituals (Joanna Macy’s the work that reconnects) and facilitate community discussions on mental health (using social presencing theatre and SeekHealing’s social health). Being part of co-creating decolonization, social justice and integrated wellbeing are crucial to me and the evolved nest plays a key role in the healing that is necessary.
